Simple Indian Breakfast Dishes You Must Try

South Indian breakfast dishes are very simple, tasty and easy to make. Breakfast is one of the more important meals of the day, your day will start with breakfast. The word meaning of breakfast is 'breaking your fast' after long overnight fasting. Some times it is ignored because of the scarcity of time. Always attempt to keep some time to have your breakfast. In India, every state has its own cuisine. So the breakfast items differ from state to state. In India for breakfast idly, dosa, uttapam, and upma are very popular. In North India, for breakfast different types of parathas are very popular. Here I have given some simple breakfast dishes you must try.

Idly

Idly is the favorite and the healthiest south Indian breakfast. Making idlis are very easy, it is very good for all age groups and easy to digest. By using of idly batter idly can make. Idly batter make with lentils, rice, fenugreek seeds, water, and salt. Soak these all ingredients together and rice separately for five hours. Wash and grind them separately, then mix both batters. Keep the idly batter outside overnight until its brew. Next day morning you can cook idly by using of idly batter.

Dosa

Dosa is a very good option for tiffin, launch, and dinner. It can make with rice flour, urad dal, salt, water, and oil. Soak urad dal and rice for 4-5 hours. Then grind it by using water to form a thick paste. Then keep batter outside overnight until its brew. Then the next day morning makes dosas with the help of brewed dosa batter. Then crispy and smooth dosa is ready, you can serve it with sambar, coconut chutney, or peanuts chutney.

Pongal

Pongal is a very popular breakfast in Tamilnadu. Pongal made from rice and dal. In Tamilnadu, it is known as Ven Pongal. For making Pongal rice, moong dal, black pepper, zeera powder, ginger, ghee, cashew, salt, and water are the main ingredients. By using of these ingredients Pongal can be made. It is a very good breakfast dish and spicy one.

Medu Vada

Medu vada is also known as Lentil donuts, sabola vada, etc. In south India it is a very famous dish, it can make with urad dal, chili's, salt, oil, cumin seeds, coriander leaves, curry leaves, and onions. In the center of this vada has a hole, you can eat medu vada with the dipping of chutney or sambar, it is very soft and delicious. You can prepare it at home, or it is available at small shops, hotels or canteens. By eating this dish, you will get more energy because it is healthy food. This Medu vada is very good for breakfast and snack items in south India.

Mysore Bonda

Mysore Bonda is a very popular breakfast dish in Bangalore. It can make from urad dal, rice flour, black pepper, green chili, ginger, oil, curry leaves, salt, asafoetida, and water. Grind and mix all these ingredients, then pour batter into one bowl. By using of your hands shape the batter into a round and pour it into oil, Mysore Bonda is ready. By using of coconut chutney, you can serve these Mysore bondas. These are very crispy, spicy, and smooth.

Upma

Upma is one of the good breakfast dishes in India. Upma can make with Bombay Rava or sooji, oil, shallots, green chilies, curry leaves, water, salt, channa dal, urad dal, mustard seeds, hing, and coconut. Firstly, you have to roast the Bombay Rava in one pan until it becomes slightly warm, fragrant. Then boil the sooji by adding of above ingredients, then after a few minutes, upma is ready. You can serve it with sambar or chutney.

Poori

All over India, many people loved to eat poori. Poori can make with wheat flour or atta, salt, water, oil, and semolina. Mix all the ingredients to make the dough, knead and keep it rest for few minutes, then divide the dough into round balls. That round balls roll it to a circular shape, then heat oil, rolled out poori in it, poori is ready. You can serve it with the help of potato masala. It gives a very nice taste.

Aloo Paratha

Aloo paratha is very famous in north India. They loved to eat aloo paratha as breakfast, launch, and dinner. Many people loved to eat it with curd, pickle or chutney. Aloo paratha can make with atta, potato, chillis, salt, water, and semolina. By using of these ingredients, aloo paratha can make, it gives a spicy and nice taste.

Semiya Upma

Semiya upma is also known as vermicelli. Semiya upma loved by kids, it is a popular dish for them. It can make with vermicelli, ginger, chilli, onion, vegetables, beans, salt, water, potatoes, and frozen peas. By using of these ingredients, semiya upma can prepare. Serve it hot with pickle or chutney.
